L’Officiel: Regé-Jean Page is Rewriting the Rules

The Bridgerton heartthrob is changing the way you see the world by changing what you see on screen.

Regé-Jean Page has made a career of playing masculine roles. From Bridgerton’s Duke of Hastings to The Gray Man’s Carmichael to the rumors around him playing the next James Bond, Page is the poster guy for the hetero male lead. And yet, he’s not a subscriber to the “traditional ideas” that have created this archetype. He admits that his characters are all “little bits” of him—though he points out that he’s most similar to the Duke, minus the moodiness—yet Page emphasizes his “spotlight-averse” tendencies. “The trick with traditional ideas, they’re never quite as static as we think they are,” explains the actor, pointing out that high heels were originally designed for Persian soliders and pink was once considered “the most masculine color.” In his cover shoot, the L’OFFICIEL Hommes Fall 2022 cover star opens up about rewriting tradition and more.
